Tough Choices: Exploring Medication Decision-Making During Pregnancy and Lactation Among Women With Inflammatory Arthritis

Methotrexate is an effective drug used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. It is also a fetotoxic drug, which means women who are pregnant or going to become pregnant must decide if they will continue with their medication during pregnancy or seek an alternative. Talabi et al. surveyed women over 40 who have had at least one pregnancy after their inflammatory arthritis diagnosis. They found that there is a need for better family planning care for women with childbearing potential.
